Christian Schools Blogsite Discussion

Around the world there is a wonderful diversity of Christian schools. This blogsite includes articles and promotional videos for, and about, Christian schools. The inclusion of material is not an endorsement.

Hopefully these articles, videos and examples from around the world will help parents better understand the different visions of Christian schools. The goal is for parents to be better equipped to ask questions. It may help Christian schools evaluate what messages they are sending out to their community.

My school looks out for me

Thursday, March 24, 2011
Sunshine Coast Grammar School in Queensland Australia created a 30 second advertisement for Television. There is not a lot you can cover in 30 seconds. This is not a Christian School. The message of this advertisement is hopefully one a Christian school would not present. It is included here as an example for parents and school marketers.

The video is titled "My school looks out for me". The vision of the school seems to teach children "life is all about me". Each of the students appears individually. None of them are interacting with others. None of them are helping others, serving others, even talking with others. It talks about their own dreams, of being heard - but not helping others dreams or listening to others.

This video may appeal to the "me generation" of parents and children but it is not a message Christian schools should be presenting.
