In American the parents of six million students choose Independant and Religious schools. This video by Council for American Private Education (CAPE)E lists the general main reasons why parents choose these schools.

A good quote "Children only get one education. It should focus on what really counts." Considers the difference between the goals of education and the paths to a goal. Encourages parents to consider an education which provides, moral, spiritual and cultural, academic, aesthetic, physical and mental

The video questions where Public School teachers are told, or encouraged to put their focus and energy. By measuring reading and maths and focusing their attention on a limited, or narrow education, children miss out on a much broader and richer education.

Are Private Schools better than Public

This video addresses the popular, yet often debated issue of Public versus Private School. It makes an interesting point in what really academically there is not a lot distinguishes academic 'success'. It's simple parents getting involved in their childrens education. Other factors like finance and community play a part but parents are a far bigger determiner of 'success'.

Some schools welcome and encourage parents to be involved. Others have a more "drop the off at the door" mentality. In deciding a school it is important that parents feel like the school is partnering with them rather than replacing or undermining them.
