Christian Schools Blogsite Discussion

Around the world there is a wonderful diversity of Christian schools. This blogsite includes articles and promotional videos for, and about, Christian schools. The inclusion of material is not an endorsement.

Hopefully these articles, videos and examples from around the world will help parents better understand the different visions of Christian schools. The goal is for parents to be better equipped to ask questions. It may help Christian schools evaluate what messages they are sending out to their community.

Greenwood Christian School South Carolina

This short promotional video for Greenwood Christian School, located in Greenwood, South Carolina makes a clear emphasis of the Christ centred education they offer. All parents have dreams for their children so this video seeks to tap into that desire.

Redwood Christian School California

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

The messages in these three 36 second promotional videos by Redwood Christian School in California USA could, hopefully, apply to many Christian schools. The first rt reminds parents that education is about giving children a perspective on life. The combination of teachers interacting with students and the sense of discovery about God's creation is very effective.

Another short promotional video describes life as a relay race. It is a very clever analogy.

My personal favourite is this video of young children talking about what they want to be when they grow up. Rather than focusing on their choice of career they highlight the personal character traits they hope to display.

The school has also produced a longer 5 minute promotional video. The choice of song determined the length of the video. "God is good all the time" is brought to life as the viewer is taken on a journey around the school seeing the life, colour, variety of activities, sports, music and relationships in classrooms. The video may not be a polished promotional presentation but it certainly reveals a great deal about the school - students are engaged in learning, smiling, active and working together.

Tyndale Christian School Blacktown Sydney

Monday, April 09, 2012

Tyndale Christian School in Blacktown Sydney is a parent controlled school and part of Christian Education National.  This promotional video includes interviews with pioneers, Principal, staff, students and parents. The emphasis on Christianity is very obvious.

The video includes a fascinating historical perspective connecting why the Dutch immigrants to Australia were so passionate about the education of their children.

Carinya Christian School Gunnedah TV Advertisement

Monday, January 23, 2012

IN regional areas advertising your school on Television can be quite economical. It presents your school to a wider audience which can also just help with word of mouth marketing. The challenge is to know what to say in 30 seconds. Carinya Christian School is located in Gunnedah NSW Australia.

Catholic School Education A Gift for Life

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Catholic Schools are the largest providers of non-Government education in most countries of the world. This video does not promote a single Catholic Schools but rather the whole movement. It is a clever "life story" told in 60 seconds. There is family, chivalry, a romance, serving people. It simply highlights what is important about life. It doesn't over promise. I like it.

Hutt Valley Christian School New Zealand

Tuesday, August 02, 2011

Hutt Valley Christian School created this promotional video in 2010. The video tells nothing of the school facilities. It doesn't have any photos or video. It is simply a voiceover with text on the screen. There are even some gaps where nothing is on the screen.

While this approach is not recommended it does allow a clear message of the vision of the school to be communicated. It shows what can be done without even using a video camera. The video is clearly directed at parents not students. It addresses the amount of time that parents spend with their children compared to other influencers. They believe they have a scriptural mandate and that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The video explains they do not have a government curriculum which gives them a high degree of control of what they teach. The school is therefore funded by school fees - not government - yet they claim to offer some of the lowest private school fees and are willing to help families who may still consider it too expensive.

The school welcomes Christian believers from any church.

Cornerstone Christian School Scotland

Thursday, July 28, 2011

Cornerstone Christian School Scotland chose to use a video to help launch the school in 2010. The video makes it very clear they believe that God wants something more than state education can provide for His children.

The video is very simple combining Christian music tracks with a slideshow of photos with text. The video starts with baby photos and uses many scriptures. It states that schools have pushed God out of classrooms and that 1,000 teenagers are leaving church each week. Their vision for the school is to let God back into the classroom and have a school which works in partnership with parents.

River City Christian School San Antonio Texas

Tuesday, July 26, 2011
River City Christian School San Antonio Texas takes a riskier approach in this promotional video. It highlights that the set curriculum in public schools does not work for all children. It then promotes itself as caring for struggling children. It is an unusual 'marketing angle' trying to attract students who struggle in public schools due to learning difficulties. This approach may turn away the majority of prospective families looking for a Christian school.

It is clear they see that Christ will help students overcome the troubles they are facing.

Monterey Bay Christian School Promo USA

Thursday, July 21, 2011
Monterey Bay Christian School is located in Seaside, California. The school created this promotional video for television. It therefore has to be short. Mostly it is the Principal speaking about the choice parents face in what is best for your son or daughter. He reminds parents they only have one chance to raise their child.

The video is designed to raise awareness of the school.

Bellevue Christian School Promo

Tuesday, July 19, 2011
Bellevue Christian School Promotional video is included here more for what not to do. The intent of the video is good but the delivery does not reflect well on the school.

The promotional video is all adults, many with a corded microphone making statements. It has all been done indoors with poor lighting. The main background used is a cluttered office. All the photos of students appear to be sport related. The stduents are described as head and shoulders above other schools but what this means is not explained.

My favourite statement is the final one trying to describe the school in one word ... 'Bellevue Christian School is home".
